Overseas Shipholding Group's (OSG) results returned to the positive side of the ledger despite lower revenue, thanks to a boost from Uncle Sam.

The Florida-based owner posted an $11.9m profit for the third quarter, versus a $6.3m loss a year ago. Earnings per share came in at $0.13.

Revenue fell 13.7% to $80.5m but OSG was still able to report a profit thanks to a one-time $23.5m
