Shipping shares followed the broader US stock market down today as fears over the spread of China’s coronavirus rocked investors.

As the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 420 points (1.5%) in the first half hour of trading in New York, shipping shares flipped into red numbers across the board.

One of the largest dry bulk companies, Scorpio Bulkers, was reporting earnings as the market opened and saw shares fall nearly 10% in early trading before rebounding to a drop in the 5% range.
