Oslo-listed Seadrill has officially left Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring in the US in a deal that wiped out existing shareholders including John Fredriksen.

A deal to swap $4.9bn of secured bank debt for shares was approved in October last year following big losses in disastrous oil markets.

The new company is now formally known as Seadrill 2021 and previous investors ended up with just 0.25%
