State-controlled China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) plans to use two LNG carriers for storage during the winter months.

News agency Reuters quotes CNOOC as saying it will use the leased vessels to prevent gas shortages occurring during the winter months.

Brokers detail that CNOOC earlier chartered in Tsakos Energy Navigation’s 147,000-cbm Neo Energy (built 2007) on a year-long period hire.
