Shipowners and operators saw an upturn in enquiries for LNG carrier tonnage in the past two weeks as charterers moved to cash in on a perceived floor in daily rates.

Brokers spoke of increased activity on both spot and short-term period business, which has helped slim the growing pool of LNG vessels that had piled up, particularly in the Far East.
