Avenir partners eye up 20,000-cbm LNG carriers

Newly unveiled small-scale LNG outfit Avenir LNG's lead shareholder Stolt-Nielsen has been in talks for LNG tonnage in the 20,000-cbm range as it pursues its new venture for trading and LNG bunkering.

Companies following the sector and participants at the Gastech meeting in Barcelona told TradeWinds that Stolt-Nielsen, who this week revealed it is joining forces with Golar LNG and Hoegh LNG on its existing outfit Avenir LNG, has been in discussions with shipyards on vessels at the larger end of the small-scale spectrum.
