Dutch energy company Gasunie is in discussions to add a new floating storage and regasification unit LNG import project in the Netherlands which could supply Germany and northwest Europe as it moves away from Russian pipeline gas.
Gasunie senior project manager business development LNG Marcel Tijhuis told the 22nd World LNG Summit & Awards in Athens that the new project will be announced later in December or in January 2023.
Speaking to TradeWinds Tijhuis said Gasunie is looking for a suitable location to site an FSRU in the harbour of Terneuzen which could be used for three to five years to supply additional volumes to the Dutch and German markets.
