KN, the Lithuanian energy company formerly known as Klaipedos Nafta, looks set to acquire a Hoegh LNG FSRU it currently has on long-term charter in a bid to maintain its energy security.

It said it plans to complete the deal for the 170,000-cbm FSRU Independence (built 2014) ahead of its charter expiry in December 2024.

KN said it was committed to agree financing for the acquisition of the vessel with financial institutions by the end of April 2020.
