Spot charter rates for LNG carriers are falling and available tonnage is building up at the start of what had been flagged up as a strong year for the sector.

At the beginning of the week, brokers talked about offers on modern, tri-fuel diesel-electric LNG ships as being in the $60,000 per day range in the Atlantic basin, a sharp decline from daily rates of $90,000 or more seen two weeks ago.
