Danish shipowner AP Moller-Maersk is continuing to experience issues with the methanol dual-fuel engines installed on its container ship newbuildings, pushing it to burn fossil methanol in an effort to iron out the issues.
Maersk senior lead naval architect Ola Straby told attendees at Global Maritime Decarbonisation 2025 that four of the company’s vessels are running on grey or fossil methanol.
