Charter rates for dual-fuel LNG carriers have surged to levels just shy of $100,000-per-day-plus for vessels trading spot in the Atlantic region amid talk of higher numbers for forward fixing.

Shipbrokers reported that more than one LNG carrier trading in The Cool Pool has been fixed at these levels, without giving further details.

Trader Uniper’s long-term chartered newbuilding, the 179,900-cbm LNG Schneeweisschen, is said to have been fixed at a daily rate in the range of high-$80,000 and low-$90,000 for a period of eight to 12 months to a major charterer, which some speculate could be US producer Cheniere Energy.
