French energy major Total is expected to come to the market early next year for LNG carrier tonnage as it lines up the vessels it needs for its expanding portfolio.
Shipowners and yards appear to be aware of the incoming enquiry, although the number of vessels the major is expected to seek remains unclear.
But Total is known to have been working on a project with yards to draw up specifications for a new breed of LNG carriers in an effort to improve the efficiency and trading flexibility of its future fleet.
