Trader Trafigura Group is teaming up with engine designer MAN Energy Solutions on its new ammonia-fuelled engine design.
Trafigura will "co-sponsor" the new two-stroke ammonia engine as part of its continuing investment in renewable energy technologies.
However, it would not be giving details of the size of its investment in the project, Trafigura's spokeswoman said.
