A prominent internal candidate has been named as the new chief executive of Lloyd’s of London, with a vow to keep an “iron grip” on underwriting discipline at the world’s largest insurance marketplace.
Patrick Tiernan, the current chief of markets at Lloyd’s, will take on the top job from 1 June after John Neal unexpectedly announced this year that he would leave to run the reinsurance arm of broker Aon.
