The cruise industry and European shipbuilders have called for the region’s marine technology industries to be included in the European Union’s Green Deal Industrial Plan.

EU launched the Green Deal this week to support local industries contributing to the region’s transition to climate neutrality.

The deal proposes a Net-Zero Industry Act to promote strategic European projects.

In a joint statement from the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and Sea Europe, a shipbuilders’ association, the two associations said maritime technology and innovation are critical for the region’s decarbonisation.
