Worries about the withdrawal of underwriting capital from the hull market emerged as a key concern at the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) conference in Tokyo this week.

More than a quarter of delegates — some 26.9% — attending a session on the state of the hull market indicated that loss of underwriting capacity had become a threat, up from just 7% at the time IUMI met in Berlin in 2015.
