The North P&I Club has promoted senior executives in underwriting and claims as chief executive Paul Jennings lays the ground for future growth.

The two most senior promotions go to Savraj Mehta, who has been appointed chief commercial officer, and Thya Kathiravel, who steps up to the position of chief underwriting officer.

The role of chief commercial officer is a new position to help North P&I develop its diversification and growth strategy.

Steve Rebair and Simon Main have been made deputy global directors of underwriting, while Mike Salthouse and Matt More have been appointed deputy global directors of claims.

Paul Jennings, North P&I’s CEO, said: “This really is an exciting time for North. Our newly enhanced role of chief commercial officer demonstrates our focus and ongoing commitment to our commercial strategy and identifying market opportunities, and in Savraj we have the best possible person to fulfil this important role and to assist in the delivery of that strategy.”

In a separate P&I-related appointment, Richard Linacre is joining Shipowners Claims Bureau, managers of the American Club, in London.

Linacre is joining to develop the American Club’s fixed premium business Eagle Ocean Marine (EOM).

American Club chief executive Joe Hughes said: “Everyone at EOM and the Club welcomes Richard to his new position with great enthusiasm, in the expectation that his efforts will significantly enhance our capabilities over the months and years ahead”
