Gard has signed up to the Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative, which seeks to promote responsible recycling in the shipping business.
The Arendal-based outfit is the first insurer to back the scheme, following 23 companies that have committed themselves so far, including CMA CGM, China Navigation, Hapag-Lloyd, Swire Pacific and Teekay Shipping. Major shipper BMW group is also involved in the scheme.
