Turkish authorities paid to remove the wreck of a capsized container ship from one of the country’s biggest ports after the vessel was found to have no insurance.
The Chilean-based protection and indemnity provider of the 508-teu Amnah (built 1996) claimed it had ended coverage of the vessel a month before it capsized during loading in December 2024 in the Turkish port of Ambarli, according to an official.
