American Petroleum Tankers and Crowley's ship-management arm are appealing a decision sticking them with the blame for a $115m-plus multi-ship collision on the Mississippi River.

The duo filed notice on 14 July that they would be challenging US District Judge Eldon Fallon's 29 June determination that they were responsible for a 2019 pile-up involving the 50,000-dwt tanker American Liberty (built 2017), two bulkers, barges, docks and a grain facility.
