Top officials at Greek ferry company ANEK Lines have been convicted by a court in Piraeus in connection with a deadly blaze on one of its ships six years ago.

Company chairman George Katsanevakis and chief executive Ioannis Vardinoyiannis were found guilty of negligence that led to serial manslaughter and arson on board the 26,900-gt Norman Atlantic (built 2009).

The ANEK-chartered ship went up in flames mid-sea in December 2014, causing the deaths of at least 12 people.
