Bouchard Transportation has been ordered to pay more than $250,000 to an employee fired for speaking with the US Coast Guard (USCG) about the 2017 blast that killed his brother.

Federal workplace safety regulators ruled last month that the Long Island tug and barge operator violated whistleblower protections when it fired the unnamed mariner without giving a reason in early 2018.
