The chief executive of Mumbai-listed Mercator Ltd has resigned as Indian courts ordered the sale of the company's last two ships.

Shalabh Mittal quit in August as the shipowner undergoes an insolvency resolution process at a National Company Law Tribunal in Mumbai, Mercator said in its second-quarter results.

Mercator added that the boss stepped down for "personal reasons and other commitments".
