A US federal district court will reconsider whether or not Chartworld is entitled to damages following the detention of one of its ships on criminal pollution charges.

In a unanimous decision, a panel of three judges from the Third Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a lower court erred in dismissing the Greek shipowner's 2019 lawsuit seeking more than $1m after it and the US government agreed to a bond freeing the 627,986-cbf Nederland Reefer (built 1991) earlier that year.
