Germany has become the 13th country to accede to the IMO’s Hong Kong Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships (HKC).

It became the seventh country to have acceded to the convention in the last six months, after signing the convention yesterday in London.

The HCK requires ratification by 15 states and 40% of the world’s tonnage.
