UK to Caribbean operator Geest Line is boosting its fleet while moving its base from Portsmouth to Dover.
The container, breakbulk and reefer cargo company is bringing in five vessels and revising schedule times, it told The News in Portsmouth.
It wants a Friday arrival for cargo in the south of England, which Portsmouth cannot provide.
Managing director captain Peter Dixon said that although the company did not want to move out of Portsmouth, it had no alternative.
