US line Tote Maritime has scrapped a deal for up to four new boxships at Philly Shipyard (PSI).
It said it would allow a letter of intent for the 3,700-teu LNG-powered vessels to expire on 31 January.
This is due to a Honolulu terminal needing more upgrading than expected.
The order was always dependent on its expansion into the Hawaiian market in competition with Matson and Pasha Hawaii.
