A cryptocurrency-backed platform to prevent empty containers from being moved around the world unnecessarily is ready to roll.
The Global Shared Container Platform, which was created by Blockshipping, promises the sector potential savings of nearly $6bn.
Backed by private investors and The Danish Maritime Fund, the project will next month seek to raise up to $24m with its first initial coin offering (ICO), which is a method used to raise funds in cryptocurrencies.
