Matson says it is on schedule for compliance with the coming IMO 2020 emissions regulations.

The New York-traded Hawaiian boxship owner said Monday that three of the six ships in its China-Long Beach Express service will be outfitted with scrubbers this year and the other three next year.

"Because of unpredictability in the way fuel markets may develop over the next few years, Matson's IMO compliance strategy retains the flexibility to implement the most economical solution as conditions evolve," said senior vice president John Lauer in a statement.
