A Wisdom Marine Lines bulker captain is facing a court case in Algeria after his vessel allegedly severed an internet link.
The master, named as Du Chang Long by Algerie-Focus.com, was in charge of the 28,200–dwt Poavosa Ace (built 2013) at the time of the incident on 22 October.
Subsea cable SMWE4, which runs to Marseilles in France, was cut off Sidi Salem, taking down about 80% of Algeria Telecom’s (AT) bandwidth for six days.
