Germany's Briese Schiffahrt has ordered four 1,930-teu boxships at China's Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard.

The vessels are estimated to be worth about $23m each with deliveries slated from the end of 2023, according to brokers.

The deal marks the first containership newbuilding order by a German owner for some years and has been placed by a company which is best known for its role in the multipurpose (MPP) sector.
