Alfa Laval and Wallenius have unveiled ambitious plans to jointly develop enormous wing sails for a futuristic car carrier.
But this is only part of AlfaWall Oceanbird’s objective. The 50/50 joint venture aims to create wind-propulsion systems capable of cutting emissions by 90% on all of the biggest ships.
The Swedish scrubber maker and shipowner are developing the hugely efficient systems for high-tech newbuildings, but also for retrofitting to vessels of all types.
