Middle East LNG producer Qatar is preparing to divvy up its first batch of just over 150 LNG carrier newbuildings among four shipyards where it has reserved berths, but rumours abound how this might unfold.

Sources said Qatargas — which is handling the process for compatriot producer Qatar Petroleum — is expected to identify the yards that will build up to 20 vessels in its first raid on the slots in October.
