Norwegian offshore vessel operator Havfram is expected to make its move into wind farm vessels this year with an order for a next-generation newbuilding.

The company, which changed its name from Ocean Installer last year, said it expects to contract a wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) before the end of 2021.

Havfram has been working with Fincantieri-owned shipbuilder Vard over the past year to design a semi-submersible jack-up ship capable of handling the biggest turbines of more than 20 MW.
