Pirates have reportedly hijacked a fishing boat in a deadly kidnapping that suggests Gulf of Guinea maritime crime is moving south.

Maritime security consultancy Dryad Global said a Chinese vessel was attacked by an unknown number of assailants in a black-hulled speedboat near the city of Mbini in Equatorial Guinea and approximately 22 km northeast of the FPSO Cebia, working on Trident Energy's Ceiba oilfield.
