Fast-growing China United Lines (CULines) has signed up for two 7,000-teu container ship newbuildings at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) in a deal worth about $165m — its second newbuilding contract in a month.

The feeder company contracted CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding earlier in February to build two 2,700-teu boxships for more than $40m per ship.

The neo-panamaxes will be the largest boxships that the near-sea and intra-Asia feeder line has ever ordered and will be the biggest it owns.
