Dalian Shipbuilding joins LNG carrier sector with deal from China Merchants

State-owned Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) has made its debut in the LNG carrier segment with an order for up to four newbuildings from a domestic owner.

The Chinese shipyard said it has struck a deal with China Merchants Energy Shipping — part of state conglomerate China Merchants Group — for two firm 175,000-cbm LNG carrier newbuildings. The deal includes options for an additional two vessels.
