A Japanese consortium led by shipowner NYK Line has achieved a key milestone for the construction of a pilot ammonia-fuelled ammonia gas carrier that it plans to have on the water by 2026.
In a briefing at the Gastech event in Milan, NYK senior managing executive officer Akira Kono received approval-in-principle documentation from classification society ClassNK executive vice president Hayato Suga.
