Davie Shipbuilding has completed its biggest project ever — the conversion of a containership previously owned by Evangelos Marinakis-backed Capital Ship Management into a Canadian warship.

Following two years of hard work, the 1,702-teu Asterix (built 2010) has now become a naval vessel, with a helicopter deck, at a cost of CAD 500m ($400.9m).

Davie chairman Alex Vicefield described to TradeWinds the challenges his shipyard faced during the project.
