Insurance broker Miller has taken on former Aon marine associate director Choo Cai Ling to work in broking and production at its Singapore office.

It follows the recent appointment of Nick King to head the Singapore marine team as the broker looks to expand in Asia.

UK-based Miller launched a plan to develop its Asia Pacific business after taking on Ron Whyte as head of strategic development in Singapore last year.

Earlier this year, it acquired Japanese marine broker Lead Insurance Services.

Cai Ling has experience in hull, protection and indemnity and marine liability insurance. She was also formerly assistant manager of marine at HSBC.

Cai Ling said she was attracted to Miller by its “ambitious plans to grow”.

King said: “Her breadth of marine insurance experience across her previous roles will add great value to our local marine team as we look to grow in both Singapore and the wider region.”

Miller is a leading marine insurance broker operating both in the primary and reinsurance markets. It covers all areas of marine insurance and is active in placing reinsurance for war risk mutuals.
