China Merchants orders up to six PCTCs as it makes big car carrier gamble

Shanghai-listed China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) is making a big push on the car-carrier sector with an order for a series of 9,000-ceu pure car/truck carrier (PCTC) newbuildings.

In a regulatory filing, the state-owned shipping company said it has inked a letter of intent for up to six ultra-large methanol dual-fuel car carrier newbuildings at shipyards under China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI).
