North Sea charterers are hoping they are not set to endure a repeat of last summer’s record offshore support vessel rates as ships leave the region.

An uptick in the number of project requirements last year left a severe shortage of anchor-handling tug supply units available in the spot market.

For June and July last year, average spot market charter rates topped out at record daily levels of £120,000 ($145,000), Norwegian broker Seabrokers reported.
