A new company is aiming to be the physical supplier of choice for LNG bunkers at major ports, with plans to raise $343m for the venture.

Athens-based Probunkers announced at Posidonia 2018 that it signed a deal with classification society ABS for a technical study on the preferred design for LNG bunkering vessels.

Alexander Prokopakis, one of the company's backers and chief executive, says one aim of the ABS technical study will help determine whether to go with industry standard 'Type C' LNG tanks or use newer membrane technology since "half the industry is going one way and half the other way."
