Houthi rebels in Yemen have detained 10 ships, according to the country's government.

The claim was made by Saudi Arabian state TV channel Al-Ekhbariya.

Tankers and cargoships are among those held at the port of Hodeidah, the report said.

Yemen's minister of local administration Abdul-Sareq Fatah said the militia had prevented ships from unloading their cargoes, which included food.

He called on the United Nations’ humanitarian coordinator in Yemen, Lisa Grande, to intervene.
