Lengthy delays to scrubber installations in China have sparked the first round of IMO 2020-related contractual disputes.
The North P&I’s freight, demurrage and defence (FD&D) team, which helps owners to solve contractual wrangles, has already started to receive enquiries linked to commercial loss from installation delays.
Tiejha Smyth, FD&D deputy director at North P&I, says the indications are that the delays are worse than first reported and are starting to cost owners money.
