Two major lenders signed up this week to the Poseidon Principles banking code that encourages shipowners to cut carbon emissions, TradeWinds has learned.

French bank Credit Industriel et Commercial has committed to the green lending framework, along with Export Credit Norway, the first export credit agency (ECA) to sign up to the initiative.

This month, TradeWinds was first to report that BNP Paribas had committed itself to the code.
