The European Union has approved two more Turkish ship recycling facilities in a move that should help ease the logjam of scrap-bound vessels that has emerged as cruise operators shed tonnage.

The approvals for Simsekler and Avsar Gemi Sokum boost the EU-approved ship recycling capacity at the Turkish ship recycling centre of Aliaga by nearly 106,000 ldt per year to just under 488,000 ldt.
