Genting Hong Kong and Credit Agricole have agreed to scrap a €350m ($429m) sale-and-leaseback deal for a delayed cruiseship newbuilding in Germany.

The decision was made "in view of the substantial delay in construction and delivery" of the 19,500-gt Crystal Endeavor at Genting's own MV Werften yard due to the pandemic, Genting said.

The "worldwide freeze of cruise operations and the uncertainty in relation to new constraints to allow the operations to resume" was also a factor, the company added.
