Private Scorpio Holdings has taken a major stake in a Norwegian battery-cell manufacturer that is going public on the New York Stock Exchange through a reverse merger.

Scorpio Holdings — owned by the Lolli-Ghetti family and the Scorpio Group’s senior management team — has invested in excess of $20m in the new Freyr Battery, officials told TradeWinds.

The investment is believed to make it one of the top 10 holders in the firm, alongside the Koch family, Glencore and Fidelity.
