Italian energy infrastructure company SNAM has invited expressions of interest from shipowners on providing an LNG carrier for use as a floating storage and regasification unit for a new project in Sardinia.
Those following the project said SNAM, which has been appointed by the Italian government to develop the project, is seeking a full-sized FSRU rather than a small-scale unit to serve what appears to be a relatively limited initial demand requirement.
